We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Business Development Manager to join our vibrant team. You’ll be based at our Waterfall City office, covering the entire national market, with the flexibility to travel as needed. As a Business Development Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in achieving our goal of a top tier Strategy and Consulting firm in the region. You’ll leverage your expertise to identify and onboard new clients, developing and maintaining strong relationships with existing clients and ensuring that all regulatory and compliance responsibilities are met.

The role of Business Development Manager will report directly to the CEO – Managing Director.

What you’ll be doing

  1. Own the client development cycle, including initial outreach and client onboarding. This will include targeting potential clients, supporting directors with client presentations and drafting project proposals for all potential clients.
  2. Conduct market research to identify trends, competitor activities, and potential opportunities for business growth.
  3. Proactively develop positive relationships with clients, taking full ownership for generating new business sales against target.
  4. Manage pipeline opportunities by maintaining strong relationships with client management, sharing market insights and responding to market opportunities.
  5. Develop and implement effective strategies for expanding the business’ network of business introducers.
  6. Participate in face-to-face or Teams meetings with target clients, including presentations at industry events and seminars.
  7. Track and manage client development activities, business targets and sales pipeline to ensure budgets are met.
  8. Plan, forecast and set short term and long-term objectives to contribute to the achievement of set targets.
  9. Collaborate with internal teams, analysing client feedback and market trends to identify new business opportunities.
  10. Build strong relationships with Directors, Team Leaders and Third-Party stakeholders, inspiring and motivating colleagues to ensure a consistent business proposition is delivered.

Qualification and Skills

  1. At least 2 years of B2B development experience, preferably with financial services consulting experience focused on CFO advisory, Strategy and Finance transformation.
  2. Education and training background in Accounting, Insurance, Actuarial, Finance and related fields with a minimum of university degree.
  3. Experience in facilitating or delivering workshops, training, holding strategic conversations with complex requirements and client onboarding.
  4. Excellent communication and negotiation skills with the ability to deliver compelling presentations with a willingness and ability to interact and quickly build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  5. Entrepreneurial spirit ability and a proven track record of deal origination and pursuit of innovative ideas in business development while managing a portfolio of high-profile clients.
  6. Proven strategic and analytical mindset with the ability to interpret financial data and make strategic recommendations and to identify new opportunities and resolve complex challenges throughout the client development process.
  7. Exposure to IFRS 17, ESG, Target Operating Model (TOM), Business re-organisation and operational resilience will be an added advantage.
  8. Proven track record in target achievement and excellent organisational skills.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple workstreams and competing deadlines, with excellent time management, planning and organisation skills.
